Step 2: Trim the Dead Branches

Suppress inactive profiles to improve deliverability and/or reduce subscription costs by removing those that don’t contribute to positive engagement (opens, clicks, orders).

Depending on your goal, we have recommended strategies for creating segmentation to suppress profiles:

  • After targeting them with email marketing (flows or campaigns)
  • With no recent clicks, opens or orders.

Once you identify the segment that has have no recent engagement you can further investigate this segment from 3rd party signals from Retention.com’s AutoReactivate. You can define a segment with no first-party signals and no third-party signals—resulting in a great segment to cut.

Step 3: Uncover Hidden Clutter in Your List

We’ve found a way to identify misspelled and fake emails in your list.

Create a segment where contacts have never received an email—if they can receive email marketing because they’re subscribed, and have never opened an email, and have never placed an order, it’s likely that the inbox isn’t active. Once built, spot check the segment before suppressing to ensure there aren’t any valid emails worth keeping.

This is a quick and simple way to find email addresses that aren’t driving any value.
